Practice makes perfect.
I have engraved in my memory our first anniversary,
planning a meal of pure perfection with my feast simmering,
candles lit, soft music playing,
I rushed to dress myself in breath-taking beauty,
a long black dress with billowing sleeves,
ending with a layer of lace at my wrist.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps at the door.
I shouted, “Honey, I love you so much,
I knew it was you!”
There stood the pastor.
He smiled and said, “The Lord told me to come over.”
I explained clearly the scene and my remarks.
This man of God said next time I think I will call ahead,
Anniversary one, an unforgettable anniversary.
